
Nine McLennan Highlanders earned North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference honors.
Third baseman Cole Fontenelle was named the Player of the Year and pitchers Will Carsten and Wyatt Cheney were named the Co-Pitchers of the Year. Fontenelle, a third baseman from Sammamish, Washington, had a .455 conference batting average with 18 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 39 RBIs and 46 runs scored in 31 games. Carsten, a right-hander from San Antonio, was 6-0 on the mound in conference play with a 1.97 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 45.2 innings. Cheney, a right-hander from Bertram, has a 6-1 conference record with a 2.00 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched.
Fontenelle, Carsten and Cheney were all named first-team all-conference along with Izzy Lopez, Ty Johnson, Hunter Grimes, Jared Matheson and Nick Greaney. Lopez, a shortstop from Fort Worth, had a .396 average in 31 games with five doubles, a home run, 25 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Johnson, an outfielder from Flower Mound, had a .358 average in 31 games with seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 33 RBIs and 33 runs scored. Grimes, a designated hitter from Kerrville, has a .342 average in 29 games with four doubles, three triples, five home runs, 39 RBIs and 32 runs scored. Matheson, a right-handed pitcher from Montgomery, had a 3-0 record with one save while appearing in 10 games with a 1.53 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. Greaney, a right-handed pitcher from Dallas, had a 2-1 in eight games with a 2.87 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 15.2 innings.
Devin Bennett was a second-team all-conference selection. The right-hander from Fort Worth had a 7-0 record in eight games with a 2.98 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 42.1 innings.
Fontenelle was also named the NTJCAC Position Player of the Week for May 1-7. In the four games against Grayson, he had a .583 average with three doubles, two home runs 12 RBIs and five runs scored.
