McLennan Softball falls in regional tournament opener

The McLennan Highlassies fell to the Weatherford Lady Coyotes 1-0 this afternoon in the opening round of the Region V North Tournament in Weatherford. Sophomore Emily Klanika took the loss in the circle, allowing only one hit and striking out seven in the seven-inning game.
 
Weatherford scored the only run in the bottom of the third as Aubree Beggs singled, moved around to third on a pair of passed balls and scored on a wild pitch.
 
Freshman Kaelin Morkisch led McLennan offensively, going 2-3 at the plate.
 
McLennan moves into the elimination bracket and will face North Central or Vernon at noon Sunday. Kaitlin Richards, Rebeca Fajardo and Brooke Arnold all recorded a hit.
