McLennan Softball completes series sweep of Hill

McLennan Softball picked up a pair of wins over the Hill this afternoon to complete the four-game conference series sweep of the Rebels.
 
McLennan came from behind to defeat Hill 6-4 in the first game with Secilia Lopez getting the win in the circle.
 
Hill scored a run in the top of the second. Bridgette Montes doubled, Autumn Minyard walked and Shelby Pelton singled to load the bases. Allie Wheeler followed with a single to score Montes.
 
The Rebels added a run in the third as Kaylie Burdine doubled, advance to third on a fielder's choice by Minyard and scored on a single by Hannah Spring.
 
McLennan got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third. Reese Taylor reached on an error and Melayna Lopez was hit by the pitch. Taylor then scored on a single by Caitlyn Wong.
 
Hill extended the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth. Pelton reached on an error and Allie Wheeler doubled. Everyone was safe on a fielder's choice by Lindsey Ratcliffe, scoring Pelton. Burdine then singled to score Allie Wheeler.
 
McLennan scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to steal the win. Lindsey Evans singled, Julia Herzinger walked and Ka'Lyn Watson walked to load the bases. Pinch hitter Genesis Rodriguez singled to score Evans. Kadyn Trochim followed with a single to score Herzinger. Rodriguez and Trochim advanced on a wild pitch, and pinch hitter Rosemary Rivera singled to score Rodriguez. Kenzie Chambers then singled to score Trochim.
 
A 12-2 run-rule victory in game two gave McLennan the sweep with Cheyenne Floyd getting the win in the circle.
 
McLennan scored in three in the bottom of the first. Melayna Lopez doubled and scored on a single by Wong. Evans followed with a fielder's choice, putting Wong out at second. Herzinger walked and Mackenzie Adams singled to score Evans. Herzinger then stole home.
 
Hill's first run came in the top of the second. Spring, Lexi Wheeler and Pelton all singled. Spring then scored on a fielder's choice by Allie Wheeler.
 
McLennan responded with five runs in the bottom of the second. Trochim led off with a solo home run. Rodriguez doubled and scored on a double by Rivera. Chambers singled and Melayna Lopez followed with a single to score Rivera, and Chambers scored on the throw. Herzinger then singled to score Melayna Lopez.
 
Two more McLennan runs scored in the third. Trochim led off with a double and scored on a single by Rodriguez. Rodriguez then came all the way around to score on a Hill error.
 
McLennan's final two runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Wong doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on an Anissa Arredondo double. Arredondo then moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Adams.
 
Hill rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the fifth as Ratcliffe reached on an error, moved to second on a single by Burdine and scored on a single by Minyard.
 
McLennan travels to Alvin Monday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
