Highlassies blister Lady Suns

The McLennan Highlassies bounced back into the win column with a blistering 83-54 win over the Cedar Valley Suns this afternoon at The Highlands.
 
Mersadez Nephew began the scoring for the Highlassies just 30 seconds into the game but momentum was on the side of the Lady Suns in the first quarter. Cedar Valley used a 10-0 run to take the eight-point lead with 7:29 to go in the first. McLennan used to 4-0 runs late in the quarter to cut the lead to four going into the second, 15-11.
 
The Highlassies picked up the momentum and the scoring in the second quarter. Trailing by even following an Arlene Madrid 3-pointer for the Lady Suns, McLennan used a 6-0 run to pull within one, 18-17. Cedar Valley added  a layup by Le'Ondria Ford to go up three, 20-17, with 6:16 to play in the second. The Highlassies pulled away with a 12-0 run highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers by Kinley Brown and four points from Jaydyn Bullard. McLennan then pushed the lead to 10, 32-22, and led 32-24 at the break.
 
McLennan broke the game open in the third. Already leading 35-28, the Highlassies put together a 14-0 run over the course of four minutes to take the 49-28 lead with 4:20 to go in the quarter. McLennan extended the lead to 23 several times and held the 60-38 advantage going into the fourth. The Highlassies led by as many as 30 in the fourth as they cruised to the win.
 
Kinley Brown led the Highlassies in double figures with 16 points and Miannah Little 14. Brielle Dorsey recorded the double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jaydyn Bullard scored 11.
