
The Highlassies fell to the Lady Vikings 82-57.
Grayson opened the game on an 8-0 run. Mersadez Nephew put McLennan on the board with a 3-pointer along the sideline with 7:10 to play in the first quarter to cut the lead to five, 8-3. The Lady Vikings responded with an 8-1 run and continued to push, extending the lead to 13 at 19-6. Jaydyn Bullard and Miannah Little both sank a pair of free throws to put McLennan within nine but a last second 3-pointer by Kiyara Howard-Garza put Grayson on top by 12 at the end of the quarter. The Highlassies cut the lead to 10 to start the second but Grayson pulled away, pushing the lead to 20 at halftime, 45-25.
The Lady Vikings extended their lead to 27 midway through the third quarter. McLennan continued to fight, cutting the lead back to 20 with three minutes to play in in the third. Grayson increased the lead once again in the final minutes of the quarter and led 60-37 heading into the final period. The Highlassies pulled within 21 multiple times in the fourth quarter but that would be as close as they could get.
Mersadez Nephew led the way for the Highlassies with 19 points.
McLennan returns to action Monday, hosting Hill with the women's game at 5 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
