Highlassies come up short

The Highlassies fell to Ranger 77-66.
 
It was a low-scoring first quarter for both squads. Cyarah Kensmil began the scoring for Ranger two minutes into the quarter and McLennan tied the game at two on a Kinley Brown jumper with 6:12 to play in the quarter. A turnaround jumper in the lane put the Highlassies up 4-2 but Ranger's Emily Vidal hit a long 3-pointer from the elbow to wipe put the Lady Rangers on top 5-4. Back-to-back buckets by Miannah Little put McLennan up 8-5 but a Robbie Johnson jumper in the final seconds made it an 8-7 Highlassie lead at the end of the first.
 
McLennan opened the second quarter with on a 4-0 run with a driving bucket by Valisa Millhouse and a pair of free throws from Mersadez Nephew, 12-7. Ranger began to rally and tied the game at 17 on another Vidal 3-pointer with 5:36 to go in the second. The Lady Rangers took the two-point lead on a Chloe Malone bucket but a Little drive in the lane tied the game at 19 with three minutes to play before halftime. Rangers began to pull away, ending on a 12-3 run to take the nine-point lead at the half, 31-22.
 
Ranger carried the momentum into the third quarter and extended the lead to 25, 55-30, with just under four minutes to go in the period. McLennan began to rally late in the quarter and trailed by 20 going into the fourth. The Highlassies continued to rally in the fourth, cutting the lead to 11 but ran out of time to complete the comeback.
 
Brielle Dorsey led the Highlassies with 15 points and Mersadez Nephew added 12.
