McLennan Highlassies trounce Ranger

The McLennan Highlassies took the show on the road and picked up a lopsided 70-39 victory over the Ranger Lady Rangers to improve to 6-1 in conference play and 18-2 on the season.
 
Back-to-back buckets by Miannah Little and Bineta Diatta began the scoring for the Highlassies. An underhanded layup by Prisca Ejimaker put Ranger n the board. McLennan led 9-6 with 6:18 to go in the first quarter. The Highlassies put together 7-0 run with four points from Diatta and a 3-pointer from Chelsea Wooten to take the first double-digit lead at 16-6 with just under five minutes to go in the quarter. McLennan retained control and led by 10 going into the second, 24-14.
 
The Highlassies kept the Lady Rangers at arm's length in the second and extended the lead 13 midway through the period, 31-18, but a small Ranger rally cut the lead back to 10 at the break, 35-25.
 
McLennan broke the game open in the third quarter. The Highlassies held Ranger to just five free throws in the first eight and a half minutes of the period while pouring in 19 points of their own to take the 54-30 lead. Ranger added a bucket by Ejimaker late in the quarter, and McLennan added a Diatta basket and Bevley free throw to go up 57-32 heading to the final period.
 
The Highlassies outscored the Rangers 13-7 in the fourth to secure the lopsided victory.
 
Bineta Diatta led the Highlassies with 16 points. Miannah Little and Saneea Bevley scored 15 points each.
