McLennan pitchers earn NJCAA preseason awards

Four McLennan Community College baseball pitchers were named NJCAA Division I Top Returning Pitchers for the Southwestern District
 
Right handers Reece Calvert, Collin Sharp, Chris Glover and Dustin Jourdan were selected. Calvert, a Plano native, earned a 9-4 record with a 5.45 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 76 innings last season. Lorena graduate Sharp had a 1-2 record in 32 innings with a 5.89 ERA and 24 strikeouts. Glover of Rockwall earned an 8-3 record with a 6.71 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 79 innings. Jourdan, an Austin native, earned a 6-2 record with four saves with a 6.73 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 32 innings.
 
The Highlanders open the season versus Wharton Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. at Bosque River Ballpark.
