McLennan Highlanders top San Jacinto Gators to remain undefeated

In a showdown among Texas teams, the McLennan Highlanders defeated the San Jacinto Gators 13-10 to become the only remaining undefeated team in the JUCO World Series field. Will Carsten picked up the win on the mound for McLennan and Landry Wideman got the save.
 
McLennan began the scoring with a run in the top of the first as Garrett Martin singled, moved to second on a balk and scored on a single by Mason Greer.
 
San Jacinto responded with a run in the bottom of the inning. Mason Lytle reached on an error and came around to score on a single by Chase Adkison.
 
The Highlanders took the lead with five runs in the third. Miguel Santos reached on an error. Blake Jackson singled and Martin walked to load the bases. Dominic Tamez doubled to scored Santos and Jackson. Greer followed with a three-run homer.
 
The Gators scored three in the bottom of the inning. Warren Laster reached on an error and Mason Auer singled. Lytle followed with a single to score Laster, and Adkison singled to score Auer. Lytle then scored on a fly out by Sabin Ceballos.
 
McLennan increased the lead to seven, 11-4, with five runs in the fourth. Izzy Lopez doubled and scored on Jackson's home run. Martin doubled and Tamez reached on an error, bringing Martin in to score. Greer then walked and scored on a single by Alex Lopez.
 
Another Gator runs scored in the bottom of the fourth. Austin Roccaforte and Auer both singled. Lytle walked and Adkison was hit by the pitch, bringing Roccaforte in to score.
 
The Highlanders added a run in the sixth as Alex Lopez singled and came around to score on a Gator error.
 
San Jacinto trimmed the lead to two, 12-10, with five runs in the bottom of the eighth. Laster singled and scored on Auer's home run. Lytle and Luke Pechtol both singled and Ceballos was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Alan Shibley singled to score Lytle, and Pechtol scored on a fly out by Jordan Williams. Roccaforte then singled to score Ceballos.
 
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the ninth. Santos drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a ground out by Hank Bard. A pair of wild pitches then brought Santos around to score.
 
Four teams remain in the tournament. McLennan advances to face Crowder at 8:30 p.m. (CT) Thursday. San Jacinto falls into the loser's bracket and will face Central Arizona at 4 p.m. (CT) Thursday.
