
The No. 3 McLennan Highlanders came from behind to defeat the 10th-Chipola Indians 3-2 on the opening day of the Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic in Florida. Will Glatch picked up the win on the mound.
Chipola scored one run in the bottom of the first ass Brady Browning singled, advanced to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
The Indians final run came in the bottom of the second. James Oman and Elgin Bennett both singled. Oman then scored on a sacrifice fly Edian Espinal.
McLennan got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth. Cole Dillon singled and Britton Moore drew a walk. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, and Dillon scored on a ground out by Karson Krowka.
The Highlanders tied the game with a run in the fifth. Elijah Rodriguez doubled and Ty Johnson. Rodriguez then scored on a fielder's choice by Chase Brown.
McLennan scored the winning run in the sixth. Katcher Halligan drew a lead-off walk an advanced to second on a sacrifice by Krowka. Pinch hitter Blake Hansen then singled to score Halligan.
The Highlanders advance in the Championship Bracket and will face Andrew College (Georgia) at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
