Eight Highlanders earn All-Conference honors
Eight members of the Highlander Baseball squad earned 2025 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference awards.
Catcher/first baseman was named Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Conference selection. The sophomore from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, had a .375 batting average in conference play with six doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs, 15 walks, 52 RBI and 27 runs scored. Second baseman Spencer Butt and outfielder Daniel Harden joined Lachance as First-Teach All-Conference selections. Butt, a freshman from Davie, Florida, hit.455 in conference play with five doubles, three home runs, 31 walks, 10 stolen bases, 19 RBI and 39 runs scored. Harden, a sophomore from Prairieville, Louisiana, had a .384 in conference play with six doubles, one triple seven home runs, 23 walks, 34,RBI, 13 stolen bases and 38 runs scored.
Shortstop Sherman Johnson, outfielder Marcus Smith, pitchers Isaac Godard and Cade Waible, and designated hitter AJ Goytia were all Second-Team All-Conference selections. Johnson, a freshman from Conyers, Georgia, batted .349 in conference with 11 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 20 walks, 123 22 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 36 runs scored. Smith, a sophomore from Harlem, New York, hit .370 in conference with 10 doubles, nine home runs, 32 walks, 33 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 38 runs scored. Godard, a sophomore right-hander from Cedar Hill, pitched 14.2 innings in conference with a 1-0 record and 1.23 ERA. He allowed 10 hits, two earned runs and 10 walks while striking out 12. Waibel, a sophomore right-hander from Round Rock, went 1-2 on the mound in conference play with three saves and a 2.93 ERA. He allowed 12 hits, five earned runs and 11 walks while striking out 25 in 15.1 innings. Goytia, a sophomore from Wesley Chapel, Florida, had a .333 batting average in conference play with 10 doubles, seven home runs, 23 walks, 32 RBI, two stolen bases and 33 runs scored.
