Wallace selected in MLB draft

McLennan Baseball right-handed pitcher Alex Wallace was selected by Tampa Bay Rays on the second day of the 2025 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. He was selected in the 15th round with the 447th pick.

Wallace, a native of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, made 10 starts as a sophomore for the Highlanders before a season-ending injury. He had a 7-2 record on the mound with a 3.86 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 42 innings. As a freshman in 2024, he made 14 appearances with a 7-2 record, 1.81 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 49.2 innings to earn second-team all-conference honors.
