Highlanders walk off Reivers in 10 innings
In a thriller on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark, the No. 6 McLennan Highlanders defeated the Iowa Western Reivers 9-8 in walk-off, extra-inning fashion. Stevie Doty picked up the win on the mound.
McLennan scored one in the first. Peyton Firgens and Brennon Seigler both singled. Brody Chyr followed with a double to score Firgens.
The Highlanders added a run with Samuel Jenkins' solo shot in the second.
Another McLennan run score with Seigler's home run in the fifth.
Iowa Western got on the board with two runs in the sixth. Dylan England led off with a single and Justin Rompre followed with a home run.
The Reivers took the lead with five runs in the seventh. Kane Wilson was hit by the pitch, and Austin Selenke followed with a home run. Nolan Geislinger singled and England walked. Charlie Kalbrener followed with a three-run homer.
The Highlanders scored four in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at seven. Firgens walked and Seigler singled, both scoring on Chyr's three-run homer.
Kalbrener led off the top of the 10th with a home run to put Iowa Western back on top
McLennan sealed the win with two runs in the bottom of the 10th. Ramon Corona walked and was replaced by pinch runner Nathan Tobin. Brandon Dickinson was also hit by the pitch. Firgens then singled to score Tobin. Firgens advanced to second on a ground out by Seigler, and Chyr was given the intentional walk, loading the bases. Cooper McEnroe then singled to score Dickinson for the walk-off victory.
