Highlanders clobber Coastal Bend

The No. 12 McLennan Highlanders clobbered the Coastal Bend Cougars 17-3 for a seven-inning run-rule victory this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark. Gino Zagorac picked up the win on the mound.
 
The Highlanders scored three in the bottom of the first. Brennon Seigler walked, Tyler Ness was hit by the pitch, and Cooper McEnroe also walked, loading the bases. Seigler scored on a sac fly by Brody Chyr, and Brandon Dickinson walked to reload the bases. Brock Lulewicz singled to score Ness, and McEnroe scored on an error.
 
Three more McLennan runs scored in the second. Seigler doubled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Ness. McEnroe and Chyr both singled, loading the bases. Ness scored on a fly out by Dickinson. Lulewicz walked, and McEnroe scored when Michael Peavy was hit by the pitch.
 
The Highlanders exploded for nine runs in the third. Peyton Firgens and Seigler both singled, and Ness walked to load the bases. McEnroe singled to score Firgens and Seigler. Chyr and Dickinson both walked, scoring Ness, and Lulewicz walked to score McEnroe. Hayden Crites then reached on an error, scoring Chyr. Firgens singled to score Dickinson and Lulewicz. Seigler walked, and Crites scored on a sac fly by Ness. McEnroe then singled to score Firgens.
 
All three Coastal Bend runs scored in the top of the sixth. Fletcher reached on a fielder's choice and Rawls walked. Kropp followed with a single to score Fletcher, and Miller singled to score Rawls. Kropp then scored on an error.
 
McLennan rounded out the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Brett Haggerty doubled and scored on a double by Chyr. Chyr then advanced on a fly out by Dickinson and scored when Lulewicz reached on an error.
