Highlanders run rule two games at Cisco
The No. 10 McLennan Highlanders picked up a pair of run-rule victories today in Cisco.
Stevie Doty went all six innings on the mound to pick up the 13-2 win in the opener.
McLennan scored two runs in the first. Sam Jenkins led off with a double and Brennon Seigler singled. Brody Chyr followed with a double to score both runners.
Two more Highlander runs scored in the second inning as Bryce Hampton doubled and scored on a Jenkins home run.
McLennan added four runs in the fourth. Ramon Corona led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Brock Lulewicz. Hampton singled to score Corona, and Jenkins tripled to score Hampton. Seigler doubled, scoring Jenkins, and Chyr doubled to score Seigler.
Both Cisco runs scored in the bottom of the fourth. Willie Cornejo-Farmer led off with a single and Tanner Wagner doubled. Blaine Lucas followed with a single to score both runners.
The Highlanders rounded out the scoring with five runs in the sixth. Seigler doubled and scored on a single by Chyr. Chyr stole second and scored on a single by Tyler Ness. Corona singled, and Lulewicz singled to score Ness. Brody Quinn walked, and Hampton was hit by the pitch, scoring Corona. Brandon Dickinson, the pinch runner for Lulewicz, then scored on a wild pitch.
In the second game, McLennan defeated Cisco 12-1 in seven innings with Griffin Lewis getting the win on the mound.
One Highlander run scored in the first. Jenkins and Chyr both walked, and Cooper McEnroe was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Ness then singled to score Jenkins.
McLennan added four runs in the third. Chyr doubled and advanced on a wild pitch, and McEnroe walked. Ness doubled to score Chyr, and Quinn singled to score McEnroe. Dickinson followed with a single to score Ness. Dickinson was caught stealing, and Hampton singled to score Quinn.
Cisco's only run was Jax Legrand's homer in the bottom of the third.
Another Highlander run scored in the fifth. Hayden Crites and Hampton both walked. Seigler then singled to score Crites.
McLennan sealed the run rule with six runs in the top of the seventh inning. Dickinson walked and Crites singled. Hampton was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Jenkins singled to score Dickinson and Crites. Seigler singled to score Hampton and Chyr singled to score Jenkins. McEnroe and Ness both walked, scoring Seigler, and Chyr scored when Quinn hit into a double play.
