Highlanders thrash Weatherford
The No. 10 McLennan Highlanders opened the Southwest District Super Regional with an 8-0 run-rule thrashing of the No. 21 Weatherford Coyotes in Weatherford. Griffin Lewis picked up the win on the mound.
The Highlanders scored two runs in the top of the second inning. Tyler Ness led off with a single and Brady Quinn drew a walk. Brock Lulewicz followed with a single to score Ness. Quinn advanced to second on a fly out by Ramon Corona and scored on a sac fly by Bryce Hampton.
Three more McLennan runs scored in the fourth. Corona singled and advanced on a sac bunt by Hampton. Sam Jenkins followed with a double, scoring Corona. Brennon Seigler singled, and Jenkins scored on a sac fly by Brody Chyr. Cooper McEnroe then doubled soc score Seigler.
The final three Highlander runs scored in the seventh. Chyr led off with a double and scored on a Ness home run. Lulewicz walked and Corona was safe on a dropped third strike. Hampton then singled to score Lulewicz.
