Highlanders end season in Super Regional
The McLennan Highlanders' season came to end today with a 10-8 loss to the Weatherford Coyotes in the Southwest District Sueper Regional.
Weatherford scored two in the first. Kaden Robardey singled but was out on a fielder's choice by Jackson Irons. Ty Waid was hit by the pitch and Jones walked to load the bases. Irons and Waid then scored on a single by Austin Godwin.
The Coyotes doubled the lead with back-to-back home runs by Jake Overstreet and Waid in the third.
Two more Weatherford runs scored in the fifth as Robardey walked and scored on another Overstreet home run.
McLennan got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Bryce Hampton singled and Sam Jenkins walked. Cooper McEnroe also walked, loading the bases. Tyler Ness then singled score Hampton and Jenkins.
The Highlanders added three runs in the sixth. Ramon Corona, Hampton and Jenkins all walked, loading the bases. Brennon Seigler singled to score Corona and Hampton, and Jenkins scored on a ground out by Brody Chyr.
Weatherford responded with two runs in the top of the seventh as Robardey walked and scored on an Irons homer.
McLennan tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ness, Brady Quinn and Brock Lulewicz all walked. Ness scored on a sac fly by Corona, and Quinn scored on a sac fly by Hampton. Jenkins walked and Seigler was hit by the pitch. Lulewicz then scored on a passed ball.
The Coyotes sealed the win with two runs in the top of the ninth. Robardey walked and Irons doubled. Overstreet then singled to score Robardey and Irons.
