Two McLennan athletes sign Letters of Intent

Two McLennan Community College athletes signed National Letters of Intent this afternoon in a ceremony on the McLennan campus.
 
Highlanders baseball pitcher Nathan Bertness, a sophomore from Sugar Land, signed with the University of Houston. Bertness appeared in 12 games as a freshman, earning a 3-1 record on the mound with 36 strikeouts and a 4.00 ERA.
 
Highlanders basketball guard Jalen Jones, a sophomore from Cedar Hill, signed with the University of Texas at Arlington. His 13.0 points per game average led the team last season. He was a first-team all-conference selection and the conference Co-Newcomer of the Year.
