Highlanders grill Grayson
The McLennan Highlanders grilled the Grayson Vikings for a commanding 90-57 victory.
McLennan trailed only twice in the dominating performance. Maximilian Blank began the scoring for the Highlanders with a bucket from the lane. Julian Greer then put Grayson on the board, going 3-3 from the free throw line. Joseph Mayberry quickly put the Highlanders back on top 4-3 before Judah Pena added a Vikings bucket, 5-4. A pair of Mayberry free throws gave the Highlander the lead and started an 8-0 run to break the game open. McLennan took its first double-digit lead at 21-11 on an Aiden Law 3-pointer from the corner with 12:12 to go in the first half. The Highlanders continued to roll leading by as many as 20, and held the 42-26 advantage at the break following a last-second tip-in by Joe Burgess.
The second half was much the same as the Highlanders left no hope for the Vikings to make a comeback.
Joseph Mayberry III and Timi Ibikulne scored 15 points each. Howard Gaskins Jr. and Aiden Law added 14b each, and Joe Burgess scored 10.
