McLennan claims Subway Cup

The McLennan Highlanders defeated the Odessa Wranglers 7 1/2 to 4 1/2 in a men's golf dual match at the Sugar Tree Golf Club in Dennis to claim the Subway Cup. The trophy received its name following years of the McLennan and Odessa teams repeatedly running into each other at Subway restaurants across the state.

The Highlanders trailed the Wranglers 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 after Saturday's doubles matches. McLennan's Kyle Southard and Chris Low halved with Cody Maldonado and Will Clark. Highlanders Brandon Wilkins and Nick Krsnak won 2 up over Micah Rogers and Ryan Jones. Odessa's Jaime Warman and Case Hollenbeck defeated Ryan Beatty and Dillon Vaughn 1 up. Wranglers Kyle Gertner and Beau Hanson defeated Andew Hans and Hunter Shattuck 1 up.

In singles play Sunday, Odessa's Rogers defeated McLennan's Vaughn 1 up. Highlander Krsnak defeated Maldonado 4 and 3, and McLennan's Wilkins defeated Clark 4 and 3. Highlander Shattuck defeated Hollenbeck 2 and 1, and McLennan's Low defeated Jones 2 and 1. Odessa's Warman defeated McLennnan's Southard 3 and 2. McLennan's Hans defeated Hanson 3 and 2. Highlander Beatty defeated Gertner 5 and 4.

McLennan will compete in the NJCAA District 2 Preview on March 10-11 at Sugar Tree Golf Club.
