Highlanders claim NJCAA Region V, District 2 Championships
Squad punches ticket to national tournament
The McLennan Highlanders shot 278-284-286 – 848 to claim the NJCAA District 2 Championships at the Sugar Tree Golf Club in Dennis, Texas.
Odessa finished in second place with 291-289-290 – 870, followed by Midland in third with 293-291-289 – 873.
Chris Low shot 69-71-71 – 211 to lead the Highlanders and claim the Region V and District 2 individual championships.

Low, Shattuck, Beatty and Hans were named to the all-region and all-district teams.
Scores from this tournament were combined with scores from the NJCAA Southwest Championships as a qualifier for the NJCAA National Tournament on May 10-17 at Spirit Hollow Golf Club in Burlington, Iowa. McLennan (896-848 – 1,744), Midland (880-873 – 1,753), Odessa (884-870 – 1,754), Paris (908-885 – 1,793) and Western Texas (918-876 – 1,794) will represent District 2. McLennan trailed Midland by 16 strokes following the NJCAA Southwest Championships but was able to come back to win the qualifier by nine strokes.
