Six McLennan Softball players named all-region
Six members of the McLennan Softball squad were named to the NJCAA All-Region V Team.
Sophomores Hailey Hudson, Julia Herzinger, Caitlyn Wong and Ka'Lyn Watson were selected for their outstanding performances this season along with freshmen Erin Plunkett and Jenny Robison.
Hudson, a right-handed pitcher from College Station, has a 20-1 record in the circle this season with a 1.38 ERA and 150 strikeouts in 126.2 innings pitched.
Herzinger, a catcher/designated player from Magnolia, has played in 55 games, recording a .386 batting average with 11 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and 56 RBIs.
Caitlyn Wong, an infielder from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, has played in 52 games, recording a .589 average with 15 doubles, 24 home runs and 83 RBIs.
Watson, an outfielder from Missouri City, has played in 56 games with a .432 average, 15 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 47 RBIs and 39 stolen bases.
Plunkett, an infielder from Humble, has played in all 61 games with a .453 average, 21 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs, 82 RBIs and 37 stolen bases.
Robison, an outfielder from Montgomery, has played 54 games with a .408 batting average, 15 doubles, five triples, 16 home runs and 63 RBIs.
Hudson and Robison also earned NTJCAC Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, respectively, for their performances in the Region V North Tournament. Hudson was 3-0 in the circle last week, allowing no runs and just four hits in 15 innings. Robison had a .438 average in the tournament with two doubles, a triple, a home run, six RBIs and four runs scored.
