Highlanders & Ravens split doubleheader
he McLennan Highlanders and San Jacinto Ravens split this afternoon's doubleheader in Pasadena.
The Ravens got the 13-1 run-rule win in the opener.
McLennan's run came in the top of the first as Chayne Allen doubled, advanced to third on a ground out by Brooke Fechner and scored on a sac fly by Lily King.
San Jacinto scored six runs in the bottom of the inning. Danielle Reynoso walked and Mia Ortega reached on an error, both scoring on a double by Ary Garcia Santana. Juliann Delome and Jaselle Salinas both walked. Zoie Powell followed with a single, scoring Garcia Santana. Breanna Norman then doubled to score Delome and Salinas. Alyssa Terry walked, and Reynoso reached on an error to score Powell.
The Ravens added seven runs in the second. Madelyn Perez and Garcia Santana both singled, and Delome was hit by the pitch. Salinas followed with a double to score all three runners. Powell singled, and Norman singled to score Salinas. Terry also singled, and Reynoso singled to score Powell and Norman. Terry then scored on a fielder's choice by Ortega.
McLennan bounced back for the 10-7 run in game two. Olivia Garrett picked up the win in the circle.
San Jacinto begin the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first. Terry single and advanced on a sac bunt by Reynoso and scored on a on ground out by Ortega.
The Highlanders took the lead with two runs in the third. Chayne Allen was hit by the pitch to lead off the inning and scored on a home run by Tayen Allen.
McLennan added two runs in the top of the fourth. Ellie Brown singled and advanced on a fielder's choice by Jordan Tosch. Both runners advanced on a sac bunt by Lillian Jones. Brown scored on a wild pitch, and Skylar Scott grounded out to score Tosch.
The Ravens added two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Ortega and Perez both singled. Ortega scored on an error, and Delome doubled to score Perez.
The Highlanders exploded for six runs in the fifth. Fechner walked and scored on a double by Tayen Allen. Kaelani Rogers then singled to score Allen. Natalie Klenda came in as a pinch runner for Rogers. Brown followed with a fielder's choice and Tosch singled to load the bases. Jones fielder's choice put Klenda out at the plate. Scott followed with a grand slam.
San Jacinto scored one in the bottom of the fifth as Terry singled, advanced on a ground out by Reynoso and scored on a single by Ortega.
Two more Ravens runs scored in the sixth. Peres and Alicia Briones both singled. Norman singled to score Perez, and Terry singled to score Briones.
San Jacinto's final run came on Garcia Santana's home run in the bottom of the seventh.
