Highlanders down Dragons & Dolphins
The McLennan Highlanders won two more games on the final day of the Lander Jamboree to make it a perfect record for the three-day event.
In their first game of the afternoon, the Highlanders defeated the Hutchinson Blue Dragons 5-3. Allyson Schauer got the win in the circle.
Hutchinson scored one in the first as Kaibryn Kruger doubled and scored on a single by Gabby Stauffer.
McLennan tied the game in the bottom of the first as Chayne Allen singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Karaline Smitherman.
The Blue Dragons took the lead with a run in the third. Addi Lutz double and advanced on a ground out by Riley Dreher. Stauffer then singled to score Lutz.
The Highlanders scored three in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. Kaelani Rogers singled but was out on a fielder's choice by Chayne Allen. Allen stole second and scored on a double by Lillian Jones. Traci Lowry singled, and Jones scored on an error that moved Lowry to third. Smitherman then grounded out to score Lowry.
Another McLennan runs scored in the sixth. Tayen Allen singled and advanced on an error. Jayden Sadler walked and was replaced by Jordan Tosch at first. Rogers then singled to score Allen.
Hutchinson final run came in the top of the seventh. Kaci Young doubled and advanced on a fly out by Kruger. Lutz then singled to score Young.
McLennan closed out the day with a 10-2 run-rule win over the Alvin Dolphins with Natalie Klenda picking up the win.
Alvin scored one in the second. Sophie Brammer singled and Katelynn Torres walked. Izzy Doggett also singled, loading the bases. Savanah Salazar then singled to score Brammer.
The Dolphins added a run in the third. Isabelle Jacoby and Mireya Silva both singled. Jade Bell then reached on an error, scoring Jacoby.
McLennan got on the board with a run in the third. Tosch was hit by the pitch. Rogers and Chayne Allen both singled, loading the bases. Lowry then hit into a double play, scoring Tosch.
The Highlanders took the lead with two runs in the fourth. Tayen Allen singled and scored on a double by Sadler. Sadler advanced on the throw and scored on a sac fly by Brooke Fechner.
McLennan erupted for six runs in the fourth. Rogers led off with a single and was replace by pinch runner Delanie Roeder. Roeder advanced on a sac bunt by Chayne Allen and scored on a double by Marquart. Lowry walked, and Jones singled to score Marquart. Tayen Allen singled to load the bases, and Sadler followed with a grand slam.
The Highlanders scored one in the bottom of the sixth for the walk-off run-rule win. Chayne Allen walked, stole second and came around to score on a pair of Dolphin errors.
