McLennan Softball No. 8 in final rankings

The McLennan Highlanders (40-10) remained at No. 8 in the final NJCAA Division I Rankings of the 2026 season.

The top five teams remain the same: Florida Southwestern State, 49-5, No. 1; Northwest Florida State, 51-4, No. 2; Northeast Alabama, 45-3, No. 3; Temple (Texas), 46-6, No. 4; and Trinity Valley (Texas), 50-6, No. 5.

Other Texas teams ranked: Grayson, staying at No. 9, 43-8; Odessa, up one to No. 10, 44-7; Paris, holding at No. 14, 44-10; and Weatherford, down three to No. 23, 34-14. San Jacinto was receiving votes.

The Highlanders close out the regular season with a four-game conference series against Grayson. The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Waco followed by a doubleheader at noon Saturday in Denison.
