The men's game was close throughout with McLennan coming out on top, 73-66.
Hill opened on a 5-0 run and pushed the lead to eight at 15-7 with 11:38 to go in the first half. McLennan's Dillon Gooding drained a 3-pointer to pull within five 10 seconds later. The Rebels continued to lead by five, 17-12 midway through the half The Highlanders found a rhythm and once again it was Gooding that stepped up, draining a pair of free throws to start an 8-0 McLennan run. The Highlanders led by three, 20-17, with 8:13 remaining in the first half. Hill took regained two minutes later. The teams battled the remainder of the half with Hill leading by one at intermission, 36-35.
The second half was tit-for-tat for 16 minutes as the teams traded baskets and the lead. The game was tied at 55 with 6:35 remaining. A Justin Wilson bucket in the lane followed by a nothing-but-net 3-pointer and another Wilson bucket put the Highlanders up by seven, 62-55 with 6:13 to play. McLennan's CJ Hall then went 3-3 from the free throw line to give the Highlanders the first double-digit lead of the game, 65-55. A Hanniel Quattara dunk for Hill ended the Highlander run. Hill rallied to cut the lead to -three with 1:15 to play, 68-65. Chris Pryor and Dillon Gooding added a pair of free throws each to push the McLennan lead to seven with 19.74 seconds to go, secure the win.
Chris Pryor led the Highlanders with 18 points and Justin Wilson added 14.
