Highlanders sweep Warriors
The McLennan Highlanders swept today's doubleheader with the Indian Hills Warriors this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
Game one was a 10-1 run-rule victory with Haley Noska getting the complete-game win in the circle.
Indian Hills' only run came in the top of the first as Peyton Raley singled, stole second and scored on a single by Cassandra Benberg.
McLennan scored five runs in the second. Tehya Pitts tripled and scored on MJ Nicholson's home run. Madison Garcia singled and stole second. Lilli Piersons was safe on an error, scoring Garcia. Trinity Allen was hit by the pitch, and Aynsli Lawson doubled to score Piersons and Allen.
Five more Highlander runs scored in the third. Ellie Loveless singled, and Pitts and Nicholson both walked to load the bases. Delanie Roeder and Garcia both walked, scoring Loveless and Pitts. Allen then singled to score Nicholson. Roeder scored on a sacrifice fly by Lawson, and Ally Thompson walked. Loveless walked again, scoring Garcia.
McLennan defeated Indian Hills 13-1 in five innings of the night cap with Ellie Loveless getting the win in the circle.
The Highlanders scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Alyssa Moreno led off with a solo home run. Nicholson singled and Roeder doubled, both scoring on a triple by Pitts. Lawson followed with a two-run homer. Allen walked, Thompson singled and Macie Jansky singled, loading the bases. Garcia then walked, scoring Allen.
Three more McLennan runs scored in the third. Roeder and Pitts both singled. Roeder scored on an error, and Allen doubled to score Pitts. Allen then scored on a ground out by Thompson.
The final four McLennan runs came in the fourth. Nicholson and Pitts both doubled, and Lawson walked to load the bases. Allen followed with a grand slam.
The Warriors rounded out the scoring with a run in the top of the fifth. Emma Scully, Raley and Mirthe Weis all singled. Mackenzie Wesson then singled to score Scully.
