The top-ranked McLennan Highlanders picked up a pair of shutouts over the #17 Weatherford Coyotes this afternoon at Bosque River Ballpark.
Kynlei Chapman went the distance in the circle for game one to get the 3-0 win, allowing four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
MJ Nicholson's solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second began the scoring.
The Highlanders then added two runs in the fourth. Ally Thompson doubled and Madison Garcia singled. Back-to-back doubles by Aynsli Lawson and Tehya Pitts scored Thompson and Garcia.
Natalie Klenda got the 1-0 win in game two, allowing four hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
The only run came for the Highlanders in the bottom of the sixth. Trinity Allen tripled and Nicholson walked. Allen then scored on a sac fly by Lilli Piersons.
