Highlanders fall to No. 2 Weatherford in three sets

The McLennan Highlanders opened North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play on the road at Weatherford facing the No. 2 nationally-ranked Coyotes.
 
Weatherford controlled the opening set from start to finish. The Coyotes led 7-2 early and continued to push, extending the lead to 12 at 17-5. McLennan rallied late and trailed by 10 at 20-10 before Weatherford took the set 25-15.
 
Set two was a back and forth battle. The teams exchanged points and was tied at 9 before McLennan took its first lead at 10-9. The Highlanders pulled away, leading by five at 18-13. Weatherford stepped up to tie the game at 20 and the teams went tit-for-tat with the Coyotes stealing the 28-26 win at the end.
 
In the third set, Weatherford once again took control early. The set was tied at four before the Coyotes pushed the lead to 9-4. McLennan called timeout but Weatherford held on to the momentum and sealed the match with the 25-13 set win.
