Highlanders sweep Southwestern Christian

The McLennan Highlanders swept the Southwestern Christian Lady Rams 3-0 to close out the first round of conference play.
 
Set 1 was a back-and-forth match until close to the end. McLennan led by three, 20-17, and ended the set on a 5-1 run to take it 25-13.
 
The Highlanders controlled the second set. McLennan led 9-2 early on and pushed the lead to 13 at 23-10 before taking the set 25-13.
 
In the third set, McLennan led 4-3 and scored the next six to go up 9-3. The Rams rallied to cut the lead in half at 11-8. The Highlanders quickly extended the lead back to six at 15-9. Once again Southwestern Christian found a way to rally and pulled within two at 17-15 before McLennan scored four in a row to make it 21-15. The Highlanders held on to finish the set 25-17 to take the sweep.
 
McLennan continues conference play Saturday, hosting #3 Weatherford at 1 p.m.
