The McLennan Highlanders battle for five sets but came up short at Vernon, falling 3-2 to the Chaparrals.
The Highlanders took the opening set 25-18 and went up 2-0 with a 25-22 win in the second. Vernon would battle to take the next three 25-20, 26-24 and 15-9.
McLennan hosts Coastal Bend at 4 p.m. Thursday in a non-conference match.
